Who is supporting this Amendment?
Planned Parenthood and the ACLU along with other pro-abortion activist groups are part of a national effort to place extreme abortion rights into state constitutions across the country. These groups are pushing for no-limit abortions and believe it’s a right to kill a baby up to birth. Millions of dollars are being poured into Florida to spread propaganda and sway public opinion in favor of Amendment 4.
Why is Amendment 4 deceptive?
The language is vague and key words are purposely undefined. This allows for loopholes that will permit unregulated abortion to birth. Viability is not defined. Even if everyone agreed on viability, the following words “or when necessary to protect the patients health” void viability. Health is not defined. Is this physical health, mental health, financial health? These two loopholes allow for abortion for any reason at any time. Health care provider is not defined. Currently a physician must deem abortion necessary, must perform the abortion and must see patients in person to administer abortion pills. The vague language could allow for anyone, including an employee at an abortion clinic to determine viability or exceptions for “patient’s health”. Parental Consent will also end. The amendment only requires parental “notification” which will allow minors to get abortions without their parent’s permission. This will make abortion the only medical procedure a minor can get in the state with out parental consent.
How did this end up on the November 5th Ballot?
Florida is one of 18 states that allow for a citizen-lead initiative to amend the constitution. To qualify for the 2024 ballot, initiative proponents had to collect 891,523 valid signatures. Out-of-state organizers were hired to collect these signatures. States with citizen lead ballot initiatives are being targeted across the country by Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and other pro-abortion groups.
How did the Supreme Court Justices vote?
After enough signatures are obtained, the Florida Supreme Court decides if the amendment can be placed on the ballot. Of the seven justices, the four men voted in favor of amendment 4 and three female justices rightly opposed the amendment. Two of the female justices appointed by Governor DeSantis, are up for re-election in November. Please vote to retain Renatha Francis and Meredith Sasso.
What happens if Amendment 4 passes?
If the amendment passes it will be enshrined into our constitution. Because of the language “no law shall prohibit,” our elected representatives will no longer be able to pass laws to protect women or limit abortion to birth. Our voices will be silenced on the issue of life.
